Mass fraction of slurry  is an important element that effect flotation, it influences flotation in several points:

1) Recovery rate. In a certain range, recovery rate declines when mass fraction of slurry is lower; and vise verse. However, mass fraction should not be overlarge, too large will impede normal aeration for flotation machine, too small will reduce the recovery ratio.
2) Concentrate grade. Generally speaking, concentrate grade is higher when flotation in thin slurry; conversely lower in thick slurry
3) Reagent dosage. Flotation dosage shall keep a certain mass fraction in slurry to achieve good effect. Reagent percentage is correspondingly higher in thick slurry, it means that less reagent can reach the required mass fraction, and reagent dosage in every tonne of ores will drop. On the contrary, reagent dosage shall be added in thin slurry.
4) Coarse particle flotation. The increase in mass fraction of slurry will magnify the slurry density, which further enhance the suspending power of coarse particle and the collision frequency of bubbles.
5) Fine particle flotation. The increase of mass fraction of slurry will thicken slurry and then decline the concentrate grade. Conversely, low mass faction will decrease the effect. In actual production, the most suitable mass fraction of slurry shall be choosed, and besides, ore property plus detailed flotation condition shall be considered.

Usually, ores with large flotation density and coarse particle shall opt thicker flurry, and vise verse. Coarse beneficiation and scavenging shall adopt thicker flurry to make sure higher recovery ration and to save reagent. Concentrate shall apply thinner slurry to enhance grade. Separation of mixed concentrate ores which is hard to sorted shall use thinner slurry to obtain qualified concentrate ores with better quality.
