Yesterday is Chinese Traditional Valentine’s Day; it is named after a folk legend of Fairy Weaving Maid and Human Cowherd who are separated by Jade emperor and are only permitted to meet each other once a year on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. But Weaving Maid stays on heaven and Cowherd on the earth, so to make them together with each other for the day, magpies are organized to build a bridge for them to walk and meet. It is said that people under grape trellis or other fruit trellis can hear them whispering.

This is a sad but romantic story and it has taken root in the hearts of people, people especially girls in ancient times will put fruits on tables on this romantic night and worship god to endow them intelligent mind and skilful hands, as marriage is a great event in female’s life, so many couples will pray for their happy marriage that night. However, in recent years, in particular, urban youths have celebrated it as Valentine's Day in China. As a result, owners of flower shops, bars and stores are full of joy as they sell more commodities for love.
