With continuous progress of own performance, the stone crusher also improves the whole process of mining industry as core equipment in large mining and materials processing projects. During the operation, the crusher will be affected by too high or low temperature. In this article, we will talk about how to maintain the crusher machine at low temperature.

The common crusher types include jaw crusher, hammer crusher, cone crusher, impact crusher, etc. In order to ensure normal operation in cold winter, even below minus 50 degrees Celsius, we should carry out thorough inspection and maintenance for the crusher before winter comes. Here we’d like to offer several maintenance tips for crushers as follows: 

Cleaning of crusher

It is strongly recommended to regularly clean the diesel engine, chassis and surface of the working device. In the process of cleaning, the damage of parts and leakage of oil can be easily found. It is strictly forbidden to use high-pressure and high-temperature water gun to rinse the parts which are not waterproof enough, especially the electrical part, so as to avoid damage.

Selection and replacement of oil

1. Selection of fuel oil. At low temperature, the diesel is easy to wax with increasing viscosity and worsening mobility & atomization, which reduces the power of the diesel engine. In order to make the diesel engine work softly and reduce fuel consumption, it is suggested to use the diesel with low condensation point.

2. Replacement of diesel engine oil. Diesel engines should use the oil with low viscosity & temperature. Such oil will not easily oxidize at high temperatures nor leave sediment in the precision components of the diesel engine, which greatly extends the service life of engines. Multi-stage oil can work in a wide range of temperatures. In the process of replacing the oil, we should also clean or replace the oil filter.

3. Replace the lubricating oil and grease. In case of seasonal maintenance, the gear oil especially for winter use should be adopted for the transmission, splitter, differential and steering gear. Pay attention to cleaning before oil replacement.

Maintenance of parts

1. The water temperature in the diesel engine shall not be too low or too high. Clear the scale inside the water jacket. As for the lasting antifreeze fluid, it is suggested to select the type with the temperature at least 10℃ less than the lowest temperature of the area where the crusher is applied.  Once there is silt found in the tank, remove it immediately.

2. Maintenance of electrical equipment. Check the motor connection of storage battery. Check and adjust the electrolyte density. Carry out maintenance for the starting motor and increase the charging voltage of generator. In the winter, the storage battery should be always charged. 

3. Maintenance of the brake system. Pay close attention to whether the brake fluid is sufficient and the crushing quality gets worse. Check whether the oil & water separator and dirty switch are working properly. Timely make adjustment once the brake is weakened, deviated or non-returned.
